Voting Rights and Voter Suppression

3 pm Wednesday 14th December

Rinconada Library, Newell Road Palo Alto  Embarcadero Room

Proposed Agenda

Brainstorming on what next steps are on the goal of reducing voter suppression and ensuring voting rights.

Relevant Information to prepare for the meeting

On the Voting-Google Group website

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!overview

and click on voting-rights group on left hand side  are previous emails which have links to articles including definition of voter suppression and state by state look at state laws

I personally have mooted the idea of a Voters Corps (like the Peace Corps).  If any of you would like to take on doing research into what organizations worked on the 2016 election to register voterand get them to the polls in voter suppressed states, this information would be vital.

If you are willing to be the note-taker for this meeting, please contact me separately. Don’t reply all, please. If you have relevant expertise on this issue, please contact me separately.

Others may send a request to join the google group (above address) or sign up at the meeting.

Here is an article from Vox, “The “Women’s March on Washington,” explained”, with some background on the March.

Please let me know if you’d like to be removed from this mailing list. Otherwise, please stay tuned for more info about this.

As a reminder, this March is not a protest but “a celebration of human rights”. We will “stand together in solidarity with our partners and children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families”.
