On Sunday, March 11, the Democratic Volunteer Center played a major role at an activist summit hosted by Anna Eshoo (CA-18) in Palo Alto. Eshoo had asked the DVC to do the impossible: transform a hotel conference room into a phone-banking center in less than an hour. Showcasing the ingenuity and technical know-how of the DVC, 42 volunteers set up a fully operational call center with networked calling stations. After just one hour, 43 callers had made 598 calls to contested precincts in Pennsylvania’s 18th District, helping the victorious Democrat Conor Lamb defeat Rick Saccone. Among those who joined the stable of volunteers was Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian.
