The upcoming midterm elections likely have many of us worried about the state of our democracy. Now more than ever, we see that democracy is not a spectator sport; it requires each of us to protect and nurture it. With this in mind, the Peninsula Democratic Coalition is very pleased to have well-respected political sociologist, Dr. Larry Diamond, discuss the state of our democracy and how we can preserve it. As Dr. Diamond stated in his book, The Spirit of Democracy: The Struggle to Build Free Societies Throughout the World, “for democratic structures to endure – and be worthy of endurance – they must listen to their citizens’ voices, engage their participation, tolerate their protests, protect their freedoms, and respond to their needs.” We could not agree more with Dr. Diamond!

The Q&A will be moderated by Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian.

We hope you will join us in this very important discussion, and leave inspired to take action in the months leading up to the November General Election. We will share a list of resources for how you can get involved.
