Activities
There will always be lots of action at the DVC. Feel free to drop by anytime we’re open!

  • Hillary for President Gear – Get your T-shirts, buttons, bumper stickers, and lawn signs.
  • Voter Registration – If Hillary and other Democratic candidates are going to win in November, it’s critical that we Democrats get out and vote. Are you registered? If not, please come by. It only takes a few minutes. Or you can come to a community event to register. We’ll soon have a calendar you can check for details.
  • Phone Banking – The DVC has been one of the most prolific phone banking operations in California in past elections, and we’re ready to break our previous call records. Help us make calls!  You get to choose how much to volunteer. We’ll be calling swing states for Hillary, and making calls in-state for other candidates and ballot initiatives.

TransparentHorizontal-2574Why We’re Here

The Mid-Peninsula Democratic Volunteer Center (DVC)  is a joint project of the Santa Clara County and San Mateo County Democratic Party Central Committees. Our mission is to elect Democrats and pass Party-endorsed initiatives.

We also help reduce campaign expenses by offering a one-stop campaign field headquarters with the infrastructure and volunteers to support candidates and activities endorsed by the Democratic Party.

Our History
Our community has long been an important resource for progressive candidates and initiatives. In 2008 we became a national force, sending armies of travelers to key states and making hundreds of thousands of calls to voters across the country to elect Barak Obama.

The DVC was launched in 2012 to turn the Obama juggernaut into an ongoing force for Democratic success. The DVC hosted the campaign headquarters for Anna Eshoo and Jerry Hill, sponsored a massive voter registration operation, and managed campaign activities for local and state candidates. During get-out-the-vote (GOTV), we made 100,000 calls to swing states during four days leading up to Election day. Overall, more than 250,000 calls were made from our office, sometimes with 50 callers or more calling at the same time.

In 2014 the DVC came together again to support Democratic candidates and initiatives, confirming the amazing power of our community to come together for important work.

And this year we’re off and running in a big way for this critical election of a lifetime. We’ve already got more than 300 volunteers signed up, so come and join the action!

Volunteer Needs

  • Phone Banking — We’re making calls to support national campaigns such as Hillary for America and Democratic senatorial campaigns. Our phone bank is also available to support local California congressional races and, potentially, local candidates. No experience necessary. We’ll train you!
  • Voter Registration — Help us sign up all-important new voters at the DVC or local food & wine festivals and farmer’s markets.
  • Front Desk/Reception — People who love engaging with the public are needed to greet visitors to the DVC, provide information, assist with merchandise gear, and help with other activities.
  • Hospitality — Help keep our busy volunteers nourished by volunteering to keep the kitchen stocked with healthy food and beverages.
  • Canvassing/Precinct Walking — Enjoy engaging with voters face to face? This team walks neighborhoods distributing important Democratic Party voter materials door-to-door, confirming support for candidates or key voter initiatives, encouraging people to vote, etc.
  • Travel to Key States — Willing to travel to swing states to campaign door-to-door for Democratic candidates? Sign up here!
  • In-state Travel — Interested in traveling within California to campaign for Democratic candidates and initiatives? No need to provide your own transportation. Car pools often organized.
  • Technical Support — Have networking and computer skills? Come help support our phone banking operation.
  • Marketing Communications — Writers, PR professionals, and Web graphic designers needed to assist us in getting the word out to the community about the great things the DVC is doing and how people can get involved.
  • Social Networking — Help us drive active community engagement through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social channels.
  • DVC Fundraising — Good at fundraising? Help us support the on-going operations of the DVC.

Democratic Volunteer Center
It’s time to roll up our sleeves and prepare for what is likely to be the most important election campaign of our lives – the possible outcomes are so dramatically different from one another that it’s hard to comprehend them all at the same time!

Will we experience continued descent into government dysfunction and a fractured, bitter society teetering on the edge of collapse,  or will we, for the first time in many years, begin to roll back the forces that have brought us to this abyss and to affirm the primacy of human dignity, collaborative community, and stewardship of our planet?

At the DVC, over the coming months, we will be a driving force for positive change, and we’ll need all the help that we can get.

Please click here to let us know that you’re interested in being a part of this critical effort to champion justice for our people and our planet.  A joint project of the Santa Clara County and San Mateo County Democratic Central Committees, our operation is funded by direct contributions to the DVC.  Please click here to donate to the DVC and help us pay our expenses for the coming campaign.
