Democratic Volunteer Center Opens

“One-stop” Campaign Field Headquarters Delivering Support for Democratic Candidates and Initiatives

Thursday, August 18, 2015

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — The Santa Clara County and San Mateo County Democratic Party Central Committees today announced the opening of the Democratic Volunteer Center (DVC) located at 1970 West El Camino Real in Mountain View. The DVC 2016 Launch Party will take place this evening from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. U.S. Representative Anna Eshoo and other elected officials will be in attendance and sharing brief remarks.

The DVC is a joint project of the two County Central Committee organizations. Its mission is to elect Democrats, pass Party-endorsed initiatives and reduce campaign expenses by establishing a one-stop campaign field headquarters every two years that provides the infrastructure and volunteer base for candidates and interest groups endorsed by the Democratic Party.

The DVC was launched in 2012, marrying the energy and creativity of the national Obama juggernaut with the long-standing wisdom and expertise of our local established Democratic community. In addition to housing campaign headquarters for Anna Eshoo and State Senator Jerry Hill, sponsoring a massive voter registration operation, and managing active campaign activities for local and state candidates, the DVC was also among the most prolific phone banking operations in the state of California. During Get Out the Vote, DVC volunteers made 100,000 calls in four days to key states in support of President Obama’s re-election. More than a quarter of a million calls were made out of the Center. At times, there were in excess of 55 concurrent online phone bankers.

In 2014, with many campaign veterans from 2012, the DVC again ran a dynamic and prolific operation in support of Democratic candidates and initiatives, affirming the power of community when people come together for important work.

In 2016, the DVC is ramping up once again to provide support for Hillary for America (HFA), supplying office infrastructure and a stable of experienced and passionate volunteers. In addition to national campaigns such as HFA and the Democratic senatorial campaigns, phone banking will be available to support local California congressional races and, possibly, local candidates. As in previous years, Anna Eshoo’s and Jerry Hill’s local campaign offices will be located in the DVC. The Center will initially be open Monday through Friday from Noon to 6pm, Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 5pm.

The DVC welcomes any members of the community who would like to volunteer their energy, ideas, and expertise to drive Democratic victories this November. If interested, please visit us online at or email us at

Citizens interested in volunteering, but for whom the Mountain View location is not convenient, are encouraged to call 650.282.5331 to learn how they can get involved. There are many ways you can help!

Volunteering to make a difference

Over 400 volunteers are already signed up and fully engaged this year to support the DVC’s outreach on behalf of Hillary Clinton and California Democratic candidates. Community members interested in joining the movement to vote their local, regional and national Democratic candidates into office should visit the DVC’s Volunteer page to see how they can help, and sign up.

Volunteers are still needed for voter registration to get out the vote for Democratic candidates; phone banking to support national campaigns such as Hillary for America and Democratic senatorial campaigns, local California congressional races and local candidates; hospitality for volunteers, canvassing and precinct walking; campaigning in California and swing states; and fundraising in support of the on-going operations of the DVC.
