Sister District South Bay is focused on advancing progressive power & policy by supporting 2-4 priority Democratic State Legislative candidates each election cycle. Our goal is to help Dems hold onto power or take power in states.

We are a group of dedicated volunteers working to change the legislative landscape around the United States. We fundraise, phone bank, write postcards, and work tirelessly to elect our candidates who will make a difference. We also participate in Sister District Action Network’s research to determine best practices for increasing voter participation and raising money for grassroots organizations in key states.

Four of our 2020 Sister District candidates flipped their previously Republican seats blue and now serve in their state legislatures: Ann Johnson (TX HD134), Nancy Guenst (PA HD152), Sara Rodriguez (WI AD13), and Ann Johnson Stewart (MN SD44). While the 2021 VA elections were tough, we were able to defend Elizabeth Guzman (VA HD31) in her grueling race to keep her delegate seat.

In 2021, our chapter wrote the most postcards in the nation and our fundraising prowess was #2! Overall, our 2021 efforts rocked: through ten events, we raised $100,000+ for our candidates and grassroots organizations, called thousands of voters in 28 phonebanks, and wrote thousands of postcards to support the campaigns and help the Sister District prove that writing to voters works.
